Gabriel vs. ??????? vs. May regret

Hi, I hope you can help ? I’m due my little man in 4 weeks and we both really love the Gabriel but are worried he may get picked on when he’s older or dislike it himself? This is after reading mixed reviews of the name on line. I would love comments from any parents with sons with the name and their feedback on how theirs sons get on at school with piers. Thank u so kindly for your help.

I don’t see why a boy would be teased for the name Gabriel. Gabriel is a very handsome name! Are you worried because it has the feminine counterpart Gabrielle? I don’t see this being a problem...Daniel has the feminine form Danielle, Michael has Michaela and Michelle, Samuel has Samantha, Stephen has Stephanie, Charles has Charlotte, Jack has Jacqueline and Jackie.. plus there are girls named Eliot, Noah, Parker, Carson, Ryan... and the list goes on. I don’t see why Gabriel would be teased.

I’m not sure why a child would get picked on with the name Gabriel. My brother is Gabriel Matthew and it has never caused him any trouble. He goes by Gabriel or Gabe, which is probably the most masculine boy name I’ve ever heard it. Gabe is strong and handsome.

I have my own little man named Gabriel! He’s eight and we call him Gabe (sometimes I call him Gabey) :) I don’t think I have ever heard of him being teased. Go for it, it’s a great name! (But maybe i am just biased :) )

My daughter is in high school and the most popular boy in school is named Gabriel, everyone calls him Gabe. So he will not get teased! It really is a great name! I would go for it! Good luck to you!

It’s a great name. It’s fairly popular, without being overused. So that tells you that a lot of people like it. Can’t imagine what there is to tease about it. Some people online just like to be critical of everthing. And, of course, no name will be liked by 100% of the people. I honestly think you’re good....

I have a 13-year old son named Gabriel Joseph. He loves his name, but when he was in 2nd and 3rd grade there were some kids who called him "[removed] Gabriel". Now, I have to say, the kids who teased him also teased him and two of my other kids for being triplets. You get the idea that they had nothing to tease them about so they went for something ridiculous. He is in middle school, about 400 kids in the school and he is the only Gabriel, which he also likes.

They removed the word that he was called... take the first two letters of Gabriel and add a Y.
By the way, my son is really popular and well-liked. He mostly goes by Gabe at school, but at home we call him Gabriel about 90% of the time.
