Arabella too frilly? vs. Yes vs. No

I really like this name, but was wondering if it’s to frilly? I am fairly girly, but doesn’t mean my daughter will be, especially since my husband will try to raise a tomboy:). Can a tomboy carry off this name? Or should I keep looking? Problem is I love girly names!

I like it. I think it’s cute when a tomboyish girl has a really girly name. You might also consider Mirabel.

This is one of my top two names! I love it and I’m not very girly...I’ve only met one person with the name and truthfully she was a little strange. I don’t think it was the name though. Plus if she’s a tomboy she can be Ari or Bell.

I love girly names also. You can be a tomboy and still have the name Arabella. Arabella is very pretty btw. My counsin was a tomboy when she was little and is very girly now. Just because you are one way when you are little doesn’t mean you will be that way you are older.

Arabella is beautiful, and would be fine on a tomboy. I know a 3 year old Arabella and she goes by Bella.

I think that is a very pretty name. It might be a little too girly for a tomboy, but then she can go by Ari or Belle, which are more sporty.

I have a little girl names Arabella Josephine. We were worried just like you that she would turn out to be a tom boy. Both her first and middle name are VERY frilly. But we did it purposefully. We figured that we would have numerous nicknames for her, no matter if she was girly or not: Ari, Bella, Bell, Joey, AJ, Jo, ect.

( ps. she turned out to be quite girly after all, and goes by Bella)
