Baby Name Poll Results

Which TV shows do you like best? Which films? Or which actors/actresses? If you’re choosing a name from TV I think your child might appreciate it more if you say "oh, well [insert name here] was my favourite actor!" or "[insert name here] was the nicest and most caring character in that movie".

Why would you do that and instantly date your child to a certain period of time? Sounds like a very juvenile thing to do. How old are you anyway? Every child deserves its own unique name not one that is copied and unoriginal. Use a little imagination.

I’m 19... It is imaginative! We probably won’t name it their full name (including surname).

I like Doctor Who, casualty and any comedy or rom con films

I would only do this if t he actor/character has a pretty common name. For example, if you like Sabrina the teenage witch, name your daughter Sabrina. But if you like the movie Juno then don’t name your kid Juno. It’s nice if you two know the origin on the name, but not so nice when the kid always gets asked "oh, your parents must really love the movie ___?"

btw, pp, I’d much rather be named Scarlett (after Scarlett O’Hara) or Peter (after Peter Parker), if I were a boy than have some dumb made-up so-called teen mom name that seem to be so popular nowadays (you, Nevaeh, Tallulah, Cooper, Maverick...)

It’s not really imaginative. Definitely do not give your child the exact same first and middle name as any character on a tv show or movie! Using one name from a character is okay but not both

I feel like you should really only do this if the actor/actress/character really means something to you. I wouldn’t just randomly pick a name off a TV show, I would really think about which ones have inspired you. Though I feel like if you have to ask other people for inspiration of TV/film characters, I doubt any have really touched you in a way significant enough to name your child after. Most people would have a clear idea about it.

All I wanted was a list of names people like off of tv shows or film... That’s all. Everyone just ignored it and carried on posting how I shouldn’t do it... The comments are supposed to be positive and helpful and only two/three of you have, the rest of you have been belittling and crushing, so thanks.
