Wylie May if she is born in May. Wylie Mae if not. Roxie Mae only no May.

Yeah and then there is Dick Tracy which your name reminds me of, so what? I love Wylie, its my daughters name. Wylie Renee.

Wylie, like the Wiley Cayote? Any kid on a playground is going to be able to make THAT connection.
And another thing, do you realize that Wylie and Wiley are boy names, not unisex names? Why would you subject your daughter to that nonsense? She’ll probably end up hating you and changing her name to Willa or something like that when she’s 18.
STAY AWAY FROM WYLIE!

cute names.

the May spelling is prettier in my opinion, or you could make it something like Mei.

I know a boy named Wiley. Mae is much better than May. Even if she’s born in that month. I might be biased, though, considering it’s my middle name (Alexandra Mae, Allie Mae) but I’ve never liked May and I don’t like naming your children after the month they were born in or the place or anything like that.

I do like the sound of Wylie Mae but can she grow up with it?

Wiley is a boys name. It’s cute but definitely for a boy.

My daughter is Wylie Renee and people seem to love it. She is only 5 though so maybe she will outgrow it.... I just don’t see how it is any different than Rylie for a girl. There are plenty of little girls named Rylie out there...

I don’t like Wylie on a girl. It’s a boy’s name.
I feel the same way about Riley/Rylie/Rylee, Bailee/Bailey/Baylee, Carson etc.
Boy names are boy names. Just b/c you got bored or fixated on a boy name when you were pregnant does NOT mean that it’s OK to use it on a girl. Would you use John, Adam, or Peter on a girl? No. So why is it OK for Wylie and the rest? Answer: it’s not.

I agree with Sam. Maybe it’s because we’re guys, but I can’t believe that the baby’s father is ACTUALLY considering Wylie as a name for his baby. It’s just as much your baby as it is his. I think it’s wrong to use a categorized name on the wrong gender.

I love Wylie Mae. I don’t see anything wrong with it. Boys are named Ashley, Shelby, and Cassidy all the time. Names are names, they don’t belong to either sex!

I disagree with the last poster. I HATE unisex names. Names are gender specific. As Sam posted, you wouldn’t call your daughter John or Adam. Then why use Wylie on a girl?
posted by guest :: 16 years ago | report
Ashley and Cassidy were originally boys names.

My baby is a product of sperm bank so there is no father. Why do you care anyways James? James is a girls name in my opinion because it is my sisters middle name.
posted by poll poster :: 16 years ago | report
Well that’s because your mother was an idiot when she named her. James has ALWAYS been a boy name. Any parent who gives their kid a gender specific name other the OTHER gender is cruel.

To the poster who thinks that Wylie’s get their a$$es kicked in school. Wylie’s have the upper hand, there are enough Payton’s, Bailey’s, Riley’s, Avery’s and Jayden’s to be bullied that the boys with non-effeminate names don’t have to worry about it.

You think Wylie sounds masculine. Haha thats funny. WYlie sounds like a cartoon character to me. Wyatt maybe but definately not Wylie. Sounds like someone can’t say Rylie correctly due to speech problem. A manly name in my opinion would be a classic like Michael or Alexander not Wylie...haha.

These are the W names listed as unisex on WIKIPEDIA.COM

Willie
Wylie
Wando

I did not make the post about the sperm bank. Someone else was pretending to be me.

I think both names are too nickname-like.
But of the 2 names I like Roxie best, at least then there wont be an issue over the gender (goodness ppl are going nuts over this).
I like:
Roxanne Clarissa
Roxanne Makayla
Roxanne Ivy

If it could be a choice between Roxie and Willa, then my vote would definitely go to Willa. It’s feminine and pretty. But Roxie’s still OK.

The world has evolved into a state where there are such things as unisex names. You can’t change it, get effing used to it. Wylie is a cute name for a little girl, name her Wylie Mae.

I think Wylie is super feminine and would be super cute on a baby girl but wouldn’t age well

I think Roxanna Mae NN: Roxie would be gorgeous and would age well

Most definitely Roxie Mae... I love the "ae" on mae... it’s more of a "name" than a "thing"

A lot of you are just plain rude.

Wylie and Roxie are very lovely names. They may not be your taste. But, it’s the same as naming your child Allie, Riley, Kylie, Kasey, etc.

Just a side note, I actually recently read of a little girl whos name is ’Lillian James’. I’m not a fan of "true" masculine names being used on little girls, but it fits and is lovely.

Wikipedia is a terrible place to go for good information. Anyone can change the info at any time and mostly, as long as you throw in a few references and it seems true, they’ll keep it on there.

Wiley is a boys name. I like the name Bailey on a girl since it is the only way I have ever seen it. I’ve met two Bailey’s and both were little girls and I fell in love with the name when I was 11 so it’s been around for awhile. Riley seems like a boys name to me. Casey, James, Ryan, Quinn, Ashley, Payton, Avery, Shelby, Cassidy were all boys names at one point. They were most likely surnames and were given to boys of the next generation. If you like people not knowing what you’re pushing in your stroller or you like the nurses laughing at you at the station and posting your childs name on bad baby name sites then go ahead. People aren’t going to tell you that your child’s name is horrid. Not that Wiley is, because I think it’s adorable but you have to think long term. Is that someone you can see in control of a company or can you only imagine them as a child? At least give her a middle name that she can go by if she doesn’t like her name. I love the name Mae but I wouldn’t choose it as a fn if I hated my real fn.

Late again...damn! This would’ve been an entertaining pole, but I must say that I think it’s funny people get defensive about a name someone else wants to name their child. I don’t get why anyone feels it’s their problem. My best friend is named Michael and she loves her name, besides ahe says it filters out the stereotyplical people from her life. Go wiley!~
