Need advice on~ vs. Name change OR ~

Just need advice.... My little girl is 1 year now and no one gets her name. It is a constant battle of,how do you spell it/pronounce it, etc. I didnt think it would be a big deal! (It is Kya) Thinking of giving her a simple, common new first name. Would it be to late for that?

DONT change her name. Shes one she already knows it by now, The name isnt hard at all if some people cant say it or spell it its their problem. If she wants to change her name when shes like 16 17 then its fine but it should be her choice

I wouldn’t change it. I’d just try to move to an area with a more sophisticated. Kya and Kaia are normal-enough names that you’d have to be a total hayseed to be flummoxed.

I left out a word. After "sophisticated" add "population."

Don’t change it. If she’s already a year old then she ought to know her name by now, it wouldn’t be right to confuse the girl with a whole new name, UNLESS the new name is simialr to Kya, Like Kyla or Kylie or Maya, and I’m sure ther are more I can’t think of. If you like any of my ideas, let me know. I like to know if I’ve helped anyone, it makes me feel like I’ve done a good deed.

I really can not believe the confusion her name has caused...some people, I tell ya!
Wish I could move somewhere else:)

Thank you so much for all of your advice. You really have helped!
I like your idea of a similar sounding name...Kylie is cute.

Thanks again all!!!

I wouldn’t change her name personally. At 1 years old I think it would be too confusing, not just for her but for the rest of your family and friends also. I have friends named things like Sarah and Jane who have had pronounciation problems so tbh I think there will always be some people who have difficulties with any name.

How do people pronounce it? Kia? You should have the spelling changed to either Kaya or Kaia. When I read something like this I can’t help but think that the mother may have decided she honestly didn’t care for the name she chose for her daughter. This so not a big deal that a few people are too dumb to know how to pronounce Kya. It is such a simple name but I do think you picked the most confusing and empty spelling. It just looks like it is missing something. So if you truly love the name maybe change the spelling to Kaya or Kaia. Either that or if you want a different name the suggestion of Kyla seems like a good alternative. At 1 she will have no idea you changed it. You probably call her Ky most of the time anyways.

It really doesn’t get much more simple than Kya does it? I mean where I come from that is half a name anyways. What would you do drop the a? Ky?

Don’t change it. I think it’s easy to pronouce... it’s other people’s problem not yours. Anyway, you can always use Kylie or Ky as a nn.

Does Kya have a middle name? you could always call her by her middle name.

DO NOT CHANGE IT!!!!! My sister’s name is Kya, she is now 16 years old and loves her name!! Yes you will run into a few people here or there that are shallow minded and cannot pronounce it, but remember, she’s only a year old. They will learn her name soon and it will be a great name....my sister absolutely loves her at sixteen years old! Stick with it!!

Kya is lovely. Don’t change it b/c only SOME ppl can’t manage to pronounce it right. 1 or 2 corrections in school and no one will mispronounce it. Remember, Teacher’s are the masters when it comes to pronouncing names - we get a lot of crazy ones! And Kya is no where near my top 10 crazy name list. =)

Even if you change the spelling, you would probably still have the pronunciation and spelling issues.
I would leave the name the way it is.
