I didn’t vote yet because I’m not sure how to pronounce the Aoife and Caoimhe. How do you pronounce them and what culture are they associated with?

I like the pronunciations but the spellings are so hard...I’m Irish American and really like the names but where are you located? If you’re in Ireland your child will be fine but if you’re in America your child will probably have a REALLY hard time...

I adore the name Aisling and Aoife so it’s so hard to choose. I think you’re going to have a difficult time if you’re in America because the Irish use so many letters that aren’t even said in the name/word. That’s the main problem that I’m having, myself. However, I must tell you that Fiona is not an Irish name. Many think it is but originally it was just made up by some Scottish guy, I believe. I think he might have been an author? I don’t know if that changes your mind or not about using it. It is the simplest of the names you have. I don’t like the sound of Siobhan, myself but I do like Caoimhe. I just think it’s going to be hard if you’re anywhere but Ireland. Even there the people give their children run of the mill names sometimes, though.
