I love the name! I would spell it Kaydie, but all the spellings are nice to, and I love that it could be short for Kadence/Cadence! Goodluck

I think it’s too close to Katie/Catie. Ever seen Mean Girls? Hers was spelled Cady and pronounced like Katie but everyone called her caddie...like in golf.

Yes, when I see it I tend to want to say it like caddie as well. Don’t mean Cadence with the nn of Cadie but don’t be surprised if people think more "golf" and less "Kate"

I’ve seen the movie and I’m not bothered about the association. Cady is a pretty name, and it’s popular enough so that a lot of people will know how to pronounce it. Don’t ya think?

No. It’s not popular at all. Probably for the same reasons we’re giving you. Hopefully, anyways. In theory it’s pretty but so is Katie since they’re said the same way almost. When I say Katie, I don’t emphasize the T sound, it’s said like any other person with a sound that is more like a D. Having the association with the movie isn’t bad it’s how people reacted to her name. That’s the problem.

How do you know it’s not popular? My 3-year-old has a Cadie in her class. Cadence is in the top 300.

We’re talking about the name Cady, pronounced with a D. Not Cadence. I wouldn’t ever even consider Cady as a nn for that, anyhow. One child doesn’t mean it’s popular. I’ve had a Bronwyn, Soren, Ryan, Zion, Donovan, etc in my class and none of those I would consider popular. Ryan was on a girl, btw.
I would stick is Cara if these are the two you’re deciding against. Sophie, Ella, and Cara go great together.

I really like Cadence nn Cadie. It’s just a nickname. Her full name will be Cadence. I don’t see the big deal. I like when people spell names correctly, but I’m much less firm on this if it’s just a nickname. Nicknames are spelled all kinds of ways, and are sometimes not even related to the name. Cadence is beautiful btw, and Cadie is a cute nickname for it.
