Margo vs. Spelling variations?
We are going to use Margo as our daughters first name...do you know any other spellings for it? I really don’t like Margo spelled this way. I also really don’t like the name Margaret. Thank you

I’ve never actually seen it spelled thats why I’m asking. I figured it was Margo from the way it sounds. Margot to us looks too much like maggot. My grandmas neighbor had a grand daughter name Margo that I used to play with and I fell in love with the name.

I’ve only seen it spelled Margot, though I agree Margo causes less confusion. I don’t think you can add too much variation to the name other than that.

Interesting...thank you Ariel. I really like the Margeaux/Margaux spellings...makes the name look a little more modern or something.

My name is Margot (spelled that way) and the biggest problem with that is that people pronounce the T and make abig fuss over it. But it looks bad without the T in my opinion.

My name is Margo and I considered changing it to Margeaux because I really love that spelling but it takes a while to write. So while I love the latter, I’ll stick with the former.

Wouldn’t "Margeaux" be a pluralized version of "Margeau" in French? I don’t know what a Margeau would be, but I’m pretty sure the ’X’ at the end makes it plural.

I have a friend named Marguax, and it’s pronounced like Margo. Other alternate spellings could be Margoh, Margot, or Margeuax.

Hello all, I am French and the real spelling is Margaux( like the wine or castle) or Margot like the queen (nickname of Marguerite). Margo or Margeaux are not the ligite spelling. And Margeaux would be pronounced Mar"j"o not Mar"go". I am having a girl and struggling with the spelling to pic as my husband is Hispanic and I am French but we live in the US and we don’t want our daughter to have to repeat her name all the time for the prononciation.

Margeaux (my name) is the Cajun French spelling, not the European French (Margaux), so while the spelling is different, the pronunciation is not. And for those who have stated that its origin as a name is French (and so the only legitimate spellings are French), you’re not quite right. The origin of the name is actually Greek (meaning "pearl"), but it was popularized in France.

My name is Margo and all I can say is that I love my name. It is different, easy to pronounce and not short for anything. Who ever names their daughter Margo will have an appreciative daughter for such a nice name!

My cousin is from New Zealand and she spells in Margeaux. Her parents preferred the French spelling. Though, I prefer Margo, the American spelling. Less long and easier to write. Though, in my opinion they are all beautiful spellings.
