I think it’s too old fashioned and that for the sake of your son I think you need to find a diffrent name.

I think that if you really love it, go for it. Yes, he’ll most likely hear Romeo and Juliet jokes for a long time, but I think that after a while people will get used to it. I hate all of this fuss- it’s just a name! No one ever says anything about Juliet...
David Beckham, anyone?
It also reminds me of a couple that came here a while ago- they decided to name their son Sherlock.

It’s a cool name, but really not one I’d recommend for a non-celebrity child. For starter, the name’s a lot to live up to - not everyone’s destined to b a good-looking smooth-talker, and if he turns out to be a quieter, more average sort of boy, it could be a bit of an embarrassing contrast.
Secondly, I don’t think I could hear it in real life without having a bit of a giggle - there’s a character on an Aussie soap called Romeo, and as much as I theoretically love the name, everytime someone says his name on the show I can’t help but think how ridiculous it sounds.
This might sound odd, but maybe go onto a video hosting site, like youtube or Daily Motion, and watch a few episodes of the show - it’s called Home and Away. Might give you an idea (for good or for bad) of how being called Romeo would sound in daily life and conversation?

i love the name Romeo.! Me and my husband had a hard time choosing between Rocco or Romeo, but we chose Rocco because we felt it fit him more :) i dont think he’ll get teased, infact i think he’ll get LOTS AND LOTS OF WONDERFUL comments! its a name you NEVER hear, and like my husband always said "Its kind of a BA (bad buttt) name" go with it!
