I’d ask the Genie...he’s pretty good at making some interesting concotions that would please all parties and honor the uncle in the process.
As for my suggestions, maybe try spelling it differently and see if you like that version any better: Wain? You wouldn’t have to use it as your son’s first name either...make it the middle AND spell it differently. For example: Jonathan Wain.
Or what about using Uncle Wayne’s middle name as a middle for your son: Burton? Then you can go with whatever first name under the sun you like!
I LOVE Griffin, but I suppose it’s not JUST Uncle Wayne’s surname, but the surname of several others in your family, so you wouldn’t end up actually honoring him at all.
