Similar Style vs. To Vivienne?
Hi! My boyfriend and I are expecting our first baby and would really appreciate some help with girl names. We’ve decided on three boy names that we plan on keeping in mind, but we’re having a much harder time with girl names. We both love the name Vivienne, however, the baby’s last name will be Hamilton and we don’t think Vivienne Hamilton flows very well. Do you have any suggestions of names that are similar in style to Vivienne but sound nice with Hamilton? Middle name is going to be Lynn or Eleanor! Thank you so much! ~Charlotte

We like Lillian, but we don’t like the sound of Lillian Hamilton!
Vivienne Hamilton sounds fine, in my opinion. However, Vivienne Lynn Hamilton and Vivienne Eleanor Hamilton don’t sound good at all. In case you’re not convinced on the name sounding fine, then here’s some alternatives:
Thanks for all the suggestions, but we don’t really like any. They’re too out there for our style and all end in the N sound which is what we don’t like about Vivienne Hamilton. We don’t like how they end in the same sound, that’s what throws off the flow for us.
@Poster 4/Poll Creator
So would you like us just to put random names down and for you to see which ones you like? They all end in the N sound because you asked for names similar to Vivienne and almost all the names similar to Vivienne end in the N sound.
I personally think Vivienne Eleanor Hamilton sounds BEAUTIFUL. Vivienne Hamilton has that "celebrity" ring to it. If you truly dislike it though, here are a few more suggestions.
I like Vivian Hamilton. It’s cute. But here’s son other suggestions:
They dont all end in the n sound. adeline, aveline, viviette, vivi, livie, violet, and seraphina dont end in the n sound and they were posted.
I said similar in style to Vivienne, not necessarily sound, such as classic/elegant/timeless/etc. I’m sorry if I didn’t make that clear. Due to the fact that the baby’s last name ends in a stronger N sound, we don’t like how names that end in that sound flow with it.
I like Vivienne Hamilton. I think you may be overthinking it...
We like Evangeline but we’re on the fence about it.
At pp, I don’t really appreciate how you are practically attacking me. Yes not all the names end in N, I’m sorry if I over generalized but just because a name doesn’t end in N doesn’t automatically mean we are going to like or love the name.
Yeah, but Vivienne Eleanor Hamilton is a MOUTHFUL. Like, really. Say it aloud! But I do agree Vivienne Hamilton is fine and there’s nothing wrong with it. And yeah it does have that celebrity ring to it!
So do you want us to just post random names down and you can see if you like any?
I suppose I guess that’s what we’re asking? We are looking for names that are similar in style to Vivienne but don’t end in the same sound. So not completely random names, names that are similar in style. I don’t really know how to express it in words so I suppose I will just say yes we want random names.
How about Livie? Livie Hamilton sounds PERFECT!
Livie Lynn Hamilton
Livie Eleanor Hamilton
Both sound perfect and flowing with middle names too! I like Lynn better, though.
If you don’t like Livie, then simply ignore this post and move on. I just suggested it since it sounds like Vivi which is what Vivienne starts with.
Livie seems more of a nickname to us rather than a full name, thanks for the suggestion though!
Okay, I’ll try to find "Similar styles to Vivienne but not just random names"...
* Ann(e) Marie/Ann(e)-Marie
* Maizy (may-zee)
We like Lydia, thanks!
We like Genevieve, Estella, Estella, Grace, and Mabel, thanks! Charlotte is my name (and I sometimes go by Lottie) so we can’t use that one.
I’m so sorry! I did not intend for you to feel attacked at all, I was just saying maybe you were overthinking it a bit because it sounds quite fine. But do NOT use a name that you don’t like.
Do you like...
Thank you, and I apologize myself if we (or more so, I) seem a little picky, we just don’t want to settle for a name. Also I apologize if I wasn’t communicating very well. I guess I’m just a little unsure of how to put exactly what we want?
Anywho! We like Amelia and Mila!! Lola has always been a name I have a soft spot for, but I have a niece who is named Penelope that goes by Lola.
We like Isla, Rosalie, Alice, and Helena, thanks!!
Haha didn’t even notice your name was Charlotte and it was even signed off as that! Sorry!
That’s all right! I just wanted to put that out there so no one else would suggest it! :)
No, it’s fine. Everyone’s picky when it comes to names. People don’t just look in a baby name book, put their fingers on a random name and name their child that.
Don’t worry, I can’t seem to find ’THE name’, either and I’m going through the same thing as you. Might even make a poll later!
Glad to know we’re not the only ones! Good luck to you with finding a name yourself!
We like Stella, thanks!!
* Aiyana/Aiyanna/Iyanna (eye-yawn-uh)
Okay, I just want to say you’re REALLY nice/polite/sweet. Just read some of your comments!
We like Fiona and Leona, thanks!
Christina eleanor or lynn
* Leann/LeAnn/Leigh Ann(e)/Leigh-Ann(e)
Thank you, pp! Hormones sometimes get the better of me but I really do try to be nice and keep them in check. Especially when people are only trying to help is with something as important and choosing a name for our child! I really do appreciate all the help everyone!
We like Beatrice and Felicity! PP, Vivienne is the name that caused us to create this poll so we definitely won’t be using that one, haha!
We like Ruby, Vera, Viola, Sylvia, Elsie, and Poppy, thanks!! I also like Lulu, but I can only see it being used as a nickname.
Lynn is only a middle name option as it is the name of a family member, but we do like Adela and Adele, thanks!
Here’s some names Lulu can be a nickname for:
We like Luna, Louise, Louisa, and Elouise, thanks!
We like Lila, thanks!!
I suggested 28 names you liked!! (unless I counted wrong) I was the one who put stars before the names. Except the one that said "Random Names:". But good luck!
Thank you! I really appreciate all of the suggestions everyone! We have so many great ideas, we’ll definitely be talking them over and when we have a more concrete list I may make another poll asking which the favorites are and/or which sound best with Lynn/Eleanor!
Valentina is a nice sweet name for a girl, of course. It has a N-sound but follows with an A.
