Temperance vs. Tempany or Tempanie vs. What do you think of both these names?
Please tell us what you think of the names Temperance and Tempany. we love them both but have been getting mixed feedback from family and friends. some love it, some hate it and some can’t decided. also, if you like Tempany/Tempanie which spelling is best? thanks.

Temperance I like very much. Tempany/Tempanie doesn’t sound bad, but seems kindbof made up. I had never heard of it, so I just looked it up. Apparently, there is an actress with the name? But one site I looked at said the origins of the name are "very vague". That translates to me as "made up". Granted, most names were probably "made up" at some point. But I’d go with Temperance. It’s quite unique but still an established name.

Temperance is a word for a tea-totaller. Not a great name for a baby.

Not a fan of Temperance at all for a person. It means "moderation or self-restraint in action, statement, etc" and I don’t think it’s fair or a good idea to pigeon hole your daughter into that kind of personality. I also just think it sounds ugly.

I like Temperance, although it seems like kind of a big name for such a tiny baby, especially considering the lack of good nicknames. I probably wouldn’t use it just because it would be so hard to carry off, but I wouldn’t roll my eyes at anyone who did use it.

Actually, temperance, by definition, is a word for moderation and self-restraint. That’s a GOOD thing....

Temperance and Tempany sound like companies to me. Or something with time or temperature, I wouldn’t use both.

I’m not a fan of any of these to be honest, and I agree about not liking the definition...there’s a time and place for restraint of course, but you should want your child to be exuberant and not feeling like they have to restrain themselves in personality.
