Robin vs. Opinions?

Can the name Robin still work for a little boy? I figure it’s been a while since its been in the top 1000 for either gender, so maybe its fresh enough? But my judgement might be scewed, because I can’t stop thinking of Robin Thicke or Robin Hood. We might call him Robbie or Rob, so he definitely has that option. Also, do you think Robin could make sense as honoring Robert(my grandfather)? Sorry it’s so long! Thanks. -Misha de Waal

I hate the name on both genders. I prefer Robyn for a girl. My first thought is Robin Hood. I dont really see it honoring Robert, why not just use Robert as a middle name?

I don’t really see Robin working on a boy unless he is a sidekick or a Peter Pan dressed fox.. sorry :(

I like Robin! I know several men with the name and I think it sounds very handsome. I think a little bit of the Batman connection, but I think if he mostly goes by Rob, that won’t be an issue. The Robins I know all go by Rob. Good luck!

I know a couple of Robins in their late twenties (girls), but no babies. I think the Batman connection may work in his favor, since it makes more people think of a boy. I feel that it would honor Robert since it was originally a nickname for Robert, especially if he goes by Rob or Robby.

I’d do Robert nn Robin. That way he can change what he’s called if he wants to later. But I think Robin is nice for a boy.

Robin is all boy no doubt, I can’t see it working on a girl in all honesty there are so many male robin connections.
