Meena? vs. Yes vs. No

We are having a daughter in September and we came cross this name and fell in love. Is it too strange and out there or does it work? Des it sound teen momish at all, because that is the opposite of what we are going for. Other suggestions are welcome. Middle name will probably be Liberty. Thanks for the help! -Mia and Drew

Cute. I also like the Mina spelling, same pronunciation.

I prefer the original spelling, Mina, but yes, it is a pretty name. Maybe you know Mina Suvari?

I don’t like the Meena spelling. Mina would be prettier.

It’s a very cute name, but I worry that it’s too close to Mia.

Thanks but we prefer the spelling Meena as we feel it is more feminine and unique.

I love it! Either spelling Mina/Meena

Another name suggestion you might like would be

Nina

Mina is pretty but very close to Mia.

We realized that it might seem close. That’s another reason we like the spelling Meena.

Sorry, but we really dislike Nina. Thanks though

The Meena spelling is fine. Either way is good.

It’s a cute name and Mia and Meena sound fine. Men give their sons the exact same name and just throw a Jr or a II on there and no one thinks that’s weird.

Meena’s origins are actually separate from Mina’s. Meena is Sanskrit and Hindi. In Hindu Mythology, Meena was the wife of the god Shiva. Meena also means "fish." Mina, on the other hand, is German in origin and means "love." The names, while similar in sound, are really quite separate. Both are the original spellings in their respective cultures.

I like Meena! It both looks and sounds very pretty. A very nice name. Meena Liberty flows splendidly. :-)

Thank you all!we are feeling much more assured and can’t wait to meet Meena Liberty!

Mia and Meena are too close. When your husband is yelling one of your names from across the house, it will be confusing. Other than that (and I worry a bit about kids calling her "Mean Meena"), it is a very pretty name.

Meena doesn’t sound teen mom-ish at all, but Liberty definitely does! I’d keep Meena and find a new middle name if that is the opposite of what you’re going for!
