Starting vs. Over

Hey! To make a very long story, that I’m sure none of you want to hear, short; we received very bad, rude, and unsupportive responses about the names we had picked for our child. We are now starting over and need your help. We are using Frank and Jean as middle names and tend to lean towards vintage and old fashioned names. Do you have any ideas? Also, it would be preferred if the names didn’t end in ’n’. Thank you so much! -Shay

I like Ada Jean and Arthur Franklin! I think Franklin sounds better.

I like Alice, Clara, Theodore, Oliver, and Henry! Thank you! Again, obviously love the name Arthur, but it’s no longer an option.

Frank isn’t changing to a longer name; it absolutely has to stay as it is. And thank you but we are no longer considering Ada or Arthur

Ada is cute, and Ada Jean isn’t bad. Neither is Arthur Frank, though Arthur Frank doesn’t flow super well.

I like Clara, Beatrice, Lucy, Matilda, Henry, Theodore, and Edward! Thank you!

And thank you, but after everything that has been said we are no longer going to be even considering Arthur or Ada.

I actually love Arthur! Always have!
And Ada is really pretty and unique!
Honestly, what others think of the name for your child shouldn’t matter because those names are special to you, and personally I think their beautiful. I would go with what you first picked because believe me, Arthur and Ada are much cuter than the trendy names like Aiden and Kaylee. I’d say go for it!!

Thank you, but I’m not looking for opinions on Ada and Arthur; we are not using them anymore and I’m just looking for suggestions.

I forgot to put in my last comment that I like Pippa, but not Phillipa.

I like Charlotte, Flora and Lucy! Thank you! I like a few others as well but are unable to use them for a few different reasons.

And thank you, but again, after everything that has been said, we are not going to be using Arthur or Ada.

You should make a new poll to start eliminating names. What about Naomi or Miriam for girls? What about Jeremiah or Zachariah for boys?
posted by guest :: 10 years ago | report
I love vintage names too! I feel like, if you don’t go with the ones you love, then you settle for ones that have been recently over-done (ie Bella/Ella/Ellie/Emmie/Edie/Evie/Emma etc.)
posted by guest :: 10 years ago | report
I like Miriam! Thank you! I plan on making another poll later; there are a lot of names I like but I want to go through them and say the full name (first, middle, last) and get rid of ones that don’t sound the best or can’t really picture using for my child

My favorites are Alice, Ann/Anne, Adele!
For boys I love, Edwin and Edward!

I’ve been a fan of old fashioned/vintage names for years now! Thankfully, in our area, they aren’t too common so we don’t really have too much concern about the popularity!

How about Adelaide, nn Ada!
posted by guest :: 10 years ago | report
That’s a nice idea, and I do like Adelaide, but we won’t be using the name Ada at all. There were comments made about it that have pretty much ruined the name for us
posted by Poll Poster: Shay :: 10 years ago | report
I really would just like to say thank you for all the ideas everyone! I didn’t anticipate this much feedback!! I really appreciate it, thank you SO much!
posted by Poll Poster: Shay :: 10 years ago | report
I wouldn’t let anyone’s comment on this website dictate the names you use. Most of the time it’s one person repeating the same negative comments over and over and being rude. You never know who is behind a computer and you have to go with your gut feelings.
posted by guest :: 10 years ago | report
Thank you, and I wouldn’t let people over the internet influence our decision that much unless there was a very, very good reason/logic behind it. My family and some of our very close friends are the ones we had received the negative feedback from.
