Race vs. Issue?

Hey there! We are having some issues with our child’s name and we’re hoping some outside help will work for us. We had decided on Levi or Nolan for a boy and Dahlia or Eva for a girl but most of our families have been telling us nonstop about how those names don’t work for "a baby like ours" (referring to the fact that the baby will be biracial). Do you think they are right? Or are the names fine? If you think they are fine, which are your favorites? If you don’t think they’re fine, what would you suggest? Last name is Jones, if that makes any difference as well. Thanks ladies (and possible gentlemen)!

I dont agree with your family. Now a white baby named "shaniqua" would be odd but the two you chose i wouldnt consider a specific race. I generally dont associate names with race anyway. Both you chose are cute but quite popular. How about ophelia? Amelia? Daila? Nallah?

I really like the names you chose, and I think the comments from your family members are ignorant. Name your child the name you and the father love. Everyone has different opinions. I’d choose Dahlia and Nolan, but all are nice! Good luck to you!

Don’t listen to them. The names you chose are so pretty! Race should not dictate a baby’s name. Name your child whatever you want to, regardless of him/her being mixed. That is very stereotypical and racist of your family.

Popularity doesn’t bother us a bit, and our names actually aren’t popular where we live! I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone with the names we were/are considering, actually! We like Ophelia, but I can only see it being a guilty pleasure name. And while Amelia is also a nice name; I have an extremely terrible association with it.

These are all great names! And I think they would fit nicely. Nolan and Dahlia would be my choices, but you may want to wait to meet him or her to officially decide.

I like Levi and Eva....why would race be an issue? silly, silly

We didn’t really think race would be an issue; but our families seem to be trying to tell us otherwise.

Tell your families they need a reality check. "Those names won’t work with a baby like yours"? What does that even mean? The names you’re considering are fine.
