Like vs. Penelope

My husband and I are in love with the name Penelope; however my sister and her husband recently announced that they are using Penelope for their daughter! We haven’t found anything else we love as much though; what names do you think fit into the same category as Penelope? We are using Andrée as a middle name! Thanks! -Eléonore

Are you guys pregnant or do you just like the name for a future daughter? If you are expecting I would just use it, unless she is farther along than you.

We’re pretty bummed about it since it took us a long time to agree on one name; but we had never mentioned that we were planning on using Penelope so we can’t be mad at them.

We like Pippa (not loving Philippa though), Matilda, and Rosamund!

We are expecting yes; and I am farther along than my sister but I wouldn’t do that to her. They didn’t know that we loved the name and wanted to use it; and I would feel terrible doing that to her.

Did you try talking to them? If it took you and your hubby so long to agree on one name, maybe they have a few they like. I’m so bummed for you guys that you can’t use it, I love Penelope!

Josephine is one of our top ones right now; though we also really like Matilda, Rosamund and Charlotte too!

We haven’t really brought it up only because I don’t want my sister to feel bad; I know they also had a really hard time finding a name too!

We like Ella (and all the others, as we had put in other comments). A middle name is already chosen and mentioned in the poll (Andrée)

I may talk to her about it once we have decided on a new name; but I don’t want her to feel bad for "stealing" when we never said anything about wanting to use it. I would feel even worse since she announced it to all of our family that they were using it and were very excited.

Josephine Andrée is absolutely gorgeous!

If you talk to your sister and she decides not to use Penelope, then great you’ll have your little Penelope Andrée, but if not then Josephine is still very beautiful!

Sophia is cute, but too popular.

Thank you! We have a few names that are really growing on us, so it’ll be hard for us now! I’ve heard that Sophia is really common, but I have actually never met a Sophia! I though I would have by now since I am a teacher, but I have never had a Sophia in my class.

I’m due August 21; so it’s coming pretty fast and is why we needed your help finding a new name!

Sophia, Emma, and Isabella have been in the top 10 forever! All such pretty names, but your little Josephine defiantly won’t have anyone in her class with that name! I love Josephine now, like ever since I suggested it to you earlier.

Penelope got popular cause of Kourtney K and I see it getting even more popular

That’s why it surprises me so much that I’ve never met a Sophia! I’ve had a few Emma and Isabella’s but never any Sophia’s!

As of right now, our top ones are Matilda, Rosamund, Josephine, Charlotte, and Cecilia! We definitely prefer Josephine to Josephina; there is something about the "ina" that we really don’t like.

Andrée has to be the middle name no matter what becuase of it’s importance to us; so your combinations wouldn’t work for us sorry! We like Sophie though

We don’t like Roselyn; there is something about the look of "lyn" in names that neither of us like! Matilda is one of my favorites; but my husband has made a pretty good point about how it doesn’t sound the best with our last name in comparison with the others.

Ew, Penelope is such an ugly and disgusting name. Don’t know why anyone would burden a beautiful baby girl with such an ugly name when they could use Paris, Peyton, Primrose or even Persephone (which is ugly as well, but better than Penelope)
