Robert is horrible for a little girl! There are better unisex names out there. Dylan, Quinn, Riley, Blake.... the list goes on. If she really likes this trend, she will most likey find a unisex name, so help her find better ones, please!

Good luck to her child.

Don’t like Robert.
Maybe Ryan, Dylan, Riley, Emerson for a girl....not Robert. Maybe they want to go with the girlie nn Bobbie or Robbie, but Robert on a girl would be a shame.

Although I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE boy names on girls (all of my daughters are going to have boy names as well) I would never use Robert on a girl. I think that’s a little too much, but if she really likes it then let her use it!

Roberta is horrible but still way better than Robert.

What a silly idea. It’s the sort of thing people do when they have never figured out how to get attention by being good at something and figure their kid won’t have any skills either. Hey, name her Robert -- then people will notice both of us!

Explain to her friend how much of a hassle it will be for her explaining that Yes, I’m a girl and my name is Robert. Robert is not a name to use as Unisex...AT ALL!

Robert is awful! I hate this trend. To me this trend is like celebrities naming their children Apple and Shiloh. Tell your friend to consider other names such as Madison. They are considered unisex, but they are much more feminine.

Well I can understand why most would shutter at the idea of a strong name like Robert for a girl, but my best friend is Michael and she loves her name! Not only is it a conversation piece, it weeds out the stereo-typical people from her life. Tell your friend Good Luck and to name her child whatever she wants. There will be negative reactions, she just has to figure out if they are going to to make her or brake her!

>>>Not only is it a conversation piece
Yeah, I had a name that was a conversation piece, too, and I was soooo sick of that conversation. It’s nicer to be known for your skills, interests, achievements, personality, than to be known as the girl with the weird name. :-/

How can you know if they’re going to make her or break her when you have no idea what your child is going to be like? It’s all very well to think oh, my kid will be spunky and cute and it’ll fit her aggressive personality really well...but your kid might not be like that at all. Save silliness for nicknames that your kid can lose more easily if they aren’t a good fit.

People will make fun of her throughout school. I know this first hand. My name was Henry-Ann, and I’m a girl. My mom thought she was being creative. I understand why she wouldn’t want to name me Jennifer like everyone else, but Henry. I was teased so much. I can not even count how many times I asked her to change my name. When I turned 18, I changed my name to Kate. Bottom line, convince your friend not to name her baby girl Robert.

Girl names are for girls.
Boy names are for boys.

These so called "unisex" names shouldn’t be used at all.

It doesn’t matter! This is her baby, not yours!

^I no, but I really don’t want her baby to be picked on! My other friends and I all agree that it is hideous.

My mother in law’s name is Jerry... SHE HATES IT!!! It has caused nothing but a headache for her to spell it and explain it all of the time! It’s horrible when people call your home asking to speak to "Mr. Robert ____"
