Kenzie Robert vs. MacKenzie Robert

I know Kenzie/MacKenzie is more common on girls, but there are so many names used on both these days that I doubt it will be a problem. He’ll probably be in class with male and female Riley’s and Spencer’s and Jordan’s so I’m sure it would be unusual to him to run into girls with his name. So which is nicer, Kenzie or MacKenzie for a boy?

Mackenzie used to be a boy’s name (i.e.Mackenzie Astin), but it’s been taken over by girls in the last 15 years.

Well, then you are a fairy Mercedes b/c it is/was a boy’s name, although commonly used on girls now too. Kenzie on the other hand is all girl.

I know a boy named Mackenzie and he goes by Mack. When I hear ’Mack’ my first thought is a Mack truck, and those are pretty manly...

I think that you’d have more hold over Mackenzie if you just claim it’s a family name.

Mackenzie Robert is very handsome.

My nephew, Connor, goes to school with plenty of girls and boys who have the same names. There’s even a girl Connor. That doesn’t seem to have had a negative effect on any of them, boys or girls. So I’m not too worried. It’s not like it was when we were kids. I’m always surprised when I hear another name that’s now used by both. So I’m sure Kenzie (which will be his nickname whichever full name we pick) won’t be any different from any of his male friends who know girls with their names.

I’ve given this a lot of thought and looked at lots of people’s opinions. Even people with blue hair who wear tutu’s, lol. It’s not the gender I’m making this poll about. It’s which form is better to use.

Thanks for everyone’s opinions and I’d love to hear more ideas of which name is better to use.

I really think it’s better to use Mackenzie. It gives him more options of nicknames later if Kenzie does turn into a problem. Kenzie may sound cute on a 3-year-old or 9-year-old, but turn into an issue for an 18-year-old or 30-year-old.
