It would be My-uh since the "ai" sounds like "I".

My-uh is the common pronunciation I know for Maia. If you are concerned, you could use Maya for My-uh. I’ve never heard the pronunciation may-uh, so I have no suggestions for a more "obvious" spelling for it.

Thank you for the feedback. I am a native Spanish speaker and I love Maia (pronounced My-uh in Spanish), but we live in the U.S. and I was told that people might get confused on how to pronounce it. I am taking this poll to understand to what extent there would be confusion. We definitely don’t want people calling her May-uh, although people get confused with common names too, so how much we should care about this is to be seen. I prefer Maia to Maya because of the meaning and origin of the names.

It’s still Maia in English. It’s also a common Scandinavian name, also said MY-ah.

From a person who has a very hard name to pronounce for Americans, don\’t worry about it. Choose the name you want & it\’ll all fall into place :)

For the record, I totally just voted wrong! It’s Mai (like Mai Thai) uh. I’m an idiot for pressing the wrong button on my iPhone screen, and it won’t let me change it. Anyways, I love the name!
