Baby Name Regret vs. Yes vs. No

Hi, I heard somewhere that parent’s regretting what they named their child is on the rise and was wondering if any of you named your child something and had unexpected problems with it later on. What did you do? Just trying to get an idea for what people are experiencing with the names they’ve chosen. Thanks!

Anything really popular - (it’s so boring to hear the same names over and over again)
Anything too trendy or celebrity related
Anything that sounds like a name a lady dancer who takes her cloths off would use

I think if you go for something slightly uncommon but not weird (or a normal name with u-neek spelling!) and most importantly go for a name you love and you wont have any regrets later on.

Hi so I hate having a popular name. My parens didnt want me to stick out but there was always someone else with my name in every cl[removed]o my three children are named, Amethyst Skylark, Carengia Storken and Oddysey Sparrow.

I see you like unusual names but has spelling Oddysey like this when the actual word is spelled Odyssey caused any problems? Do you have to correct people a lot?

My name is Emily too and I have always loved my name. I hear it a lot on TV etc. but in real life I’ve only ever met one other Emily. I guess I would have had a problem with it if it had been a popular name in the area that I live.

I wouldn’t like my kids’ names to be overused, but overall I’d rather they were more on the common side than totally unique and unheard of so that people would always mispronounce and misspell them. Our first son is Rowan.

I read an article about baby name regret being on the rise because parents are increasingly giving their kids names that are misspelled, or they are doing the boy names on girls, and spelling them wrong. They don’t realize till later that is a bad idea.
