help vs. how can I get my husband vs. involved in the naming process?!

My husband and I are 7 months pregnant and unsure of the sex. He shoots down all the names I suggest, and when I ask him for ideas, he just says "I don’t care. Whatever you want." and then opposes every single name I think of. Please help me! I’m desperate! -Amber

my husband was the same way! What I did was I handed him over a baby name book and I said "look through this and write down names you find that you like". Once he had the book in his hand he actually was able to jot down a couple names.. i was wowed.. give it a try, good luck!

Tell him if he doesn’t care then you aren’t going to consult him anymore. Then choose a trusted friend or family member to help you pick a name. Maybe he’ll change his mind before the birth. If not, at least you’ll have a name. For our second child my husband was the same way. He waited until the recovery room to tell me he hated the name! Too bad - I signed the birth certificate while he was away.

Poster 1: I’ve tried to get him to look at baby name books with me, but he always finds a way to get out of it or he spends about five minutes flipping through the book and then says something like "All these names suck. I don’t wanna do this anymore". Its so frustrating!

Poster 2: I can’t have a child with him if he’s going to spend all our lives hating her name.

Poster 2 again - If it makes a difference, he’s fine with the name now. He loves her; the name doesn’t matter.

Can he give you a couple reasons why he doesn’t like the names you suggest? Can you get a feel for the kind of names he likes or doesn’t like? For example, my husband prefers names that were popular in the 80
s while I prefer names that are popular now.

Even if you don't like the names. Thanks!
