Douglas Alexander vs. Alexander Douglas
I LOVE the name Alexander and my husband LOVES the name Douglas. So we have agreed that our son’s name will have Alexander and Douglas in his name. Now the question is which order? We were leaning towards Douglas Alexander because my niece’s name is Alexandra but they call her Alex. We thought about another name but I have always loved Alexander and it has special significance. What do you think? We hardly ever see that side of the family and if we do it’s only on Christmas Eve. Would it be too weird to have an Alexander and an Alexandra?

I like Douglas Alexander because Douglas is so much less popular then Alexander. He will likely be the only one in his class instead of toting Alexander G or d or whatever.
Oh no, it’s a tie! Can you all help me decide on one??

My brother’s name is Alexander Douglas. He goes by Alec, which might clear up some of the confusion with your niece’s name. Good luck!

Personally, I love the name Alexander Douglas, I think it flows phenomenally and is better than Douglas Alexander
