Back To vs. Square One

Hey! We had originally decided on the name Cleo however my brother-in-law and his wife just welcomed a baby girl and named her Cleo Penelope. We are now back to square one but can’t agree on anything! Do you have any suggestions? Thanks and congratulations to all the other expecting mommas!

If it’s a girl, how about Chloe? :)

There is just something about the sound or look of Chloe that we just really hate, sorry! We like Clara but not completely in love with it like we were with Cleo. Since we are very close with my brother-in-law we’d like to make sure the name sounds nothing or looks nothing like Cleo since we don’t want anything to be confusing

I know two lovely girls named Cloh and Kyloh. I think the names are simple in a non simple way (if you know what I mean) and they’re beautiful.

Cloh and Kyloh look way too complicated (to be honest, I’m not really sure how to say them) and they just look too close to Cleo. We want something that sounds nothing like Cleo at all; we would really prefer something that doesn’t even start with C or K

Sorry didn’t see no K names until after I posted.
Also there is Xena

I know you probably won’t use these names after what you just said but for future reference they are pronounced K-loh. Just as if you were to say the word low. Just at a K in the beginning. And Kyloh is Kie-Loh. Ky at in the sound in kite and then again just as if you were to say the word low.

We kind of like Athena but we aren’t loving it, sorry! The names don’t have to be related to Cleo in any way at all; we are just looking for any suggestions! Our only "restrictions" is that we do not want to be close to Cleo at all (such as not starting with C or K, preferably) and we do not want unisex names

I sort of assumed Cloh was K-low (was not sure on Kyloh though) but just wasn’t sure. But yeah, since we are very close with my brother-in-law (and actually live very close to them too) we do not want anything similar to Cleo’s name at all

Is it okay if the C makes an S sound like Cecelia?

Many people dislike the name Polly but I simply love it. Just another name suggestion :) Good luck!

Yes, "S" sounded C names would be fine (wow, that’s confusing!) we just don’t want that hard "K" sound. We actually have a dog named Molly so Polly would probably be a bit strange to use!

Oh my bad. Sorry. But isn’t Cleo a unisex name?
posted by guest :: 10 years ago | report
If you don’t mind my asking, do you have a middle name in mind?
posted by guest :: 10 years ago | report
As far as our research goes, Cleo is not a unisex name. We’re still up in the air about a middle name; we know it will be after an important female figure to us but we’re not sure about the actual name at this point
