Could Berlin vs. Work As vs. A Name?

Do you think it could work as a name? If so which gender would think it would be just by the name? My husband and I are seriously considering this for our first baby. We are keeping the gender a surprise. I am of German descent so it wouldn’t be crazy to name him/her after the capital. Please give us your honest opinions. -Lori & Zach.

Are you saying place names are tacky or just this one? Because to me some work and some don’t. -Lori & Zach.

I think most if not all are tacky to be honest. Some are becoming very common but Berlin isn’t one of them. If I had to choose I’d use it for a boy but I really would keep it as the middle name.

Most place names are tacky including this one.

You could do it as a middle name, but if you are seriously considering it as a first name, I would use it for a boy and you could nickname him Berry.

How far removed are you from your German heritage?
