For a boy or girl?
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
I like Hawthorne
Tell me these are for boys
What about Prescott Beckett or Jameson?

Otis and Ivor are perfectly usable, presuming they’re for a boy?

Yes, they are all for a boy. Thanks for the feedback. I like Beckett by the way, but not as much as Bennett. I hate the name Ben or Benny though, so Bennett is out.

I love Bram! GL

My vote is for Kirk, only because I am a huge Nirvana fan.

Ivo (EVE-oh) - Not unusable, but possibly a little close to all the Eve- names for girls
Hawthorne - Would make a fantastically distinguished sounding middle name
Jabez (jay-bez) - Not unusable
Moses - Well if it works for Gwynnie!
Blaise - Not unusable at all, very cool sounding
Otis - LOVE this one, quite vintage
Ivor (EYE-vor) - Definitely my preference over Ivo
Kirk - Too elderly for my taste
Jarvis - Not bad
Stanley - Cute but elderly
Grover (I know the puppet makes this unusable) - I’d agree with that comment, probably middle name zone only
Barnaby - Hmmm, Barney? Unsure
Obadiah - VERY biblical sounding
Bram

This is great to read. Poster #9 thanks for writing what you think of each name. Also I was worried about the nickname Barney for Barnaby to. Any other nicknames for Barnaby?

Otis is by far the best on your list.

I don’t like Otis makes me think of Milo and Otis.

Otis does remind me of Milo and Otis, but with Milo becoming popular maybe Otis has a shot too.

Ivo (EVE-oh)- a bit \’out there\’ for me
Hawthorne - nope
Jabez (jay-bez) - looks made up
Moses - okay
Blaise - not my style buy alright
Otis - I like this!
Ivor (EYE-vor) = LOVE it! Also like Iver
Kirk - nah
Jarvis - I kinda like it
Stanley - totally cute
Grover (I know the puppet makes this unusable) - agreed... unusable
Barnaby - only for a pet
Obadiah - as a middle name
Bram - hmmm not really a fan of this one

Ivo (EVE-oh)- no
Hawthorne- I LOVE LOVE LOVE this name. I love just Thorne more or maybe even Thornton. Totally usable!
Jabez (jay-bez)- no
Moses- yes, love it
Blaise- usable, prefer it more as a middle name
Otis- usable although I don’t like it
Ivor (EYE-vor)- idk maybe
Kirk- usable, but I wouldn’t
Jarvis- usable, unsure of whether I like it or not
Stanley- 100% usable, I think this name is cute
Grover (I know the puppet makes this unusable)- you already said it, the whole puppet thing
Barnaby- reminds me of Barny too much, if it’s a family name, use it as a middle name, but if it’s just a name you like and there’s no special connections to it, then it’s just not worth the teasing he would get from it
Obadiah- cool middle name
Bram- sounds like a cereal, no

I love Bram, I would use this name, Blaise is okay too. Stanley is usable, but I don’t care for it. I quite like both Moses and Obadiah, but I personally would only use them as middle names. My 13 year old son has just informed me that Blaise is a very cool name! :)

Ivo (EVE-oh) - yep, this is usable.
Hawthorne - it’s ok
Jabez (jay-bez) - I don’t really like it, but it is usable, I think it would mostly be prn Jah-bez though.
Moses - you could use it, but I wouldn’t.
Blaise - this is usable
Otis - definitely usable
Ivor (EYE-vor) - yes, definitely usable
Kirk - Usable, popular due to the Star Trek films.
Jarvis - Usable. Popular because of Iron Man.
Stanley - Usable
Grover - I think this is usable, I don’t know about any puppet reference though.
Barnaby - usable
Obadiah - usable
Bram - usable

Basically, overall they are all usable.
My favourites are Grover and Bram.

Ivo (EVE-oh) -- A friend of mine has that name
Hawthorne -- I wouldn’t use it
Jabez (jay-bez) -- it’s usable, but I don’t like it
Moses -- it’s usable, but I don’t like it
Blaise -- it’s usable, but I don’t like it
Otis -- it’s usable, but I don’t like it
Ivor (EYE-vor) -- Usable, sounds a bit Russian to me
Kirk -- usable, sounds more as a film character
Jarvis --usable, but I wouldn’t use it
Stanley -- usable
Grover (I know the puppet makes this unusable) -- you’re right
Barnaby -- it sounds like a combination of Barn and baby to me, I wouldn’t use it
Obadiah -- usable, but a bit strange
Bram -- I really love it! If my brother didn’t have this name, I would definately use it for my son.

My favourites are Ivo and Bram. GL!
