Its a problem vs. not a big deal

I have had the name chosen for my daughter, Lydia Odette, for as long as I can remember but now there is an issue. My boyfriends surname is Lincoln, which would make her initials LOL. Should I chose a different middle name? Or would giving her my last name also work seeing as it would the be LOWL? Or would the initials not be a problem at all? Thanks so much - Jessie W.

The initials would be a problem- even with your name in as well... You could add another name in somewhere (first or middle) and make sure it won’t make any type of word :)

I would love the initials LOL. It’s a great conversation starter. I knew someone once who’s initials spelled BAD and someone else who’s initials spelled, well, another word for donkey ;) Trust me there’s a lot worse than LOL.

I see no problem, LOL means laugh out loud + happiness laughter, so people would connect those things to your daughters name, and there’s a lot worse initials out there my initials are CAR. Love the name Lydia Odett I think it’s very beautiful you’ve chosen we’ll. good luck

Lol does not mean lots of love, it means laugh out loud. Both are fine just don’t get convinced you’re naming your daughter lots of love because that is not what the abbreviation actually means.

I think it’s fine but don’t add your last name. One of my friends moms purposefully have her two daughters initials that spell words (Ashley Grace E: AGE and Sydney Elise E: SEE). It’s not a bad thing. But use LOL, not LOWL.

Thanks for helping me! So Lydia Odette Lincoln will not be a problem? And LOL used to mean lots of love until like ten years ago when it became laugh out loud. But yeah thanks for clearing that up - Jessie W.
