Alessandra is best just without the nn Alice. Actually judging all these names it just seems like you’re trying to create completely different names from the names you chose. You shouldn’t do that, it’s confusing.

Eliminate Imogen, Ophelia, Amalia, and Wilhelmina. Really how did you get Millie from Amalia anyway?

A nickname is a must for us, as we have said in our other polls. These were all suggestions given to us that follow the requirements that we needed. If you do not like the nicknames that is fine, but please keep it to yourself because it is not an option to not use a nickname.

My three favorite and there all tied for the 1st place spot.
Ophelia
Athena
Imogen

This is not an elimination poll; please answer what we have asked. Millie was a suggestion for Amalia.

We have received such nice help today, please do not be rude or hurtful if you do not agree with our names. We are simply asking which you like BEST overall and with our last name WITH the nicknames. We have many requirements and all of these fit them.

The supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio goes by Ale (pr. like Aly), or you could use Alessia as a nickname. It’s in the same family as Alessandra.

My favorite is Wilhelmina (Willa). I like Rosalind (Rosa), Amelia (Millie) and Matilda (Millie). Athena (Thea) is ok.

Opal is a totally different name and shouldn’t really be a nickname for Ophelia. I feel the same about Alice/Alessandra. I don’t really like Immy/Imogen.

We have said that we do not want nickname suggestions, please respect that. We have gone through many nicknames for all of these and these are the ones we like and only ones we will consider.

If you’re dead set on these nicknames then Matilda (Millie).

I am totally in love with Alessandra. It is my favorite by far.
I guess the bottom is tied between Imogen and Amalia. I don’t like these two at all.

Oh, and I also think Alessandra Kopitar sounds best.

Just a side comment. What if your daughter grows up and wants to be called a different nickname then what you already have set in stone? Then what? She may want to be Matty or Tillie instead of Millie. Or O instead of Opal for Ophelia. Mo instead of Immy. I’m just saying, expand your options a little. The girl isn’t even born yet.

If our child decides she wants to use a different nickname, then that is fine. It is not like we are going to stop her; just like we wouldn’t stop any of our other children if they wanted to. However, it is important for us to decide on one now. We know not everyone likes doing that, however it is what we do.

Wilhelmina (Willa) and Rosalind (Rosie) are my absolute favorites! I love the classic, elegant full names with the spunky nicknames. Will definitely fit her, no matter her age/personality!

Next favorites would be Matilda or Imogen.

Wilhelmina, hands down!

Seriously people, knock it off. There’s no need to open their minds a little if they know what they like and want to adhere to that. Naming a person is hard. It’s no trivial thing. I think it’s great they want a full name with nickname options so their kids DO have some options on what they want to be called.

That being said I think Rosalind, Wilhelmina or Imogen are gorgeous choices.

Rosalind is my favorite overall, and Alessandra is my favorite with your last name

Thank you previous poster; all of our children have long names with nicknames and that is what we want for this baby. This time around has been extremely hard for us since our original choice was no longer an option for us which is why we came to this site in the first place.

Thank you to those that have answered our question as well!

My favorites are Alessandra and Matilda! Need middle names?
posted by guest :: 10 years ago | report
Matilda, Alessandra or Amelia.
posted by guest :: 10 years ago | report
At this time we’re not too concerned with middle names, thank you though! We would like to be able to use a family name as a middle name

I want to kill myself or someone kill me...just wanna die.

My two favorites are Alessandra and Rosalind but Wilhelmina got a nice but different feel to it, too.

Many blessings on this naming journey!

I didn’t see where anyone was rude...and it looks like everyone was just giving their opinions. Maybe it is because I haven’t seen your previous polls, but you seem to get offended easily, which usually doesn’t work well on a site like this.

That said, the only one I like is Matilda, but I seriously don’t see where you came up with Hattie as a nickname.

Matilda!

Oh my goodness. Did someone say that they wanted to die?
Whoever said that, please don’t kill yourself because Hell is far worse no matter how bad your situation.
Life gets bad but it will turn around. Peace be with you! and God bless you!

Again, all of the nicknames have been suggested to us. It’s not so much that I easily get offended; it’s just been very frustrating for us. We had originally picked a name but we can no longer use it so we came to the site looking for names. We have a very specific criteria that we need for our baby’s name and it just gets frustrating that people cannot respect the fact that we have already stated certain things must stay and need to be a certain way.

Also to a previous comment; I am sorry you feel that way, may I recommend you talk to someone and seek out help?

My husband and I are very particular in naming style as well. I’m sorry people are giving you a bit of a hard time with the nicknames. I prefer a more original nickname than the "normal" ones. Most times as long as it contains the necessary letters or sounds than any nickname is possible, hell have the time people on here suggest nicknames dont even need to derive from the given. So who cares, you have lovely choices with just as lovely and uncommon nicknames, I can appreciate that.
My top 3 are
Ophelia nn Opal Kopitar
Imogen nn Immy Kopitar
And
Athena nn Thea Kopitar.
Ophelia is so sophisticated and its roots in Shakespeare just make it a top contender for me, add in the nickname Opal which is beautiful in itself and just so rare and posh and I believe all together it perfect. Plus it flows nicely into your surname.
Next I love Imogen, it just embodies a true lady imo and Immy is just so cute and way more refreshing than another Emme.
Lastly I love Athena because I think one can never go wrong with naming your daughter after a Goddess, it brings tremendous good fortune whether or not you choose to believe in it and Thea is just a darling nickname for it. All in all, you have a great list. Hope I helped. GL
