Do you like the name Chaisley for a girl? I am running out of ideas. I want something unique and different yet pretty and I was going to go with Kara but it has been around for a while and seems kind of borring, then I was going to go with Kylie and everyone thinks it is childish, husband is still stuck on Marissa but I don’t know it has kind of been around since the 1980’s and isn’t new. The only other names he likes is Alexis (lexie for short), Cadence, Lacey, Jessica and Kasie. What do you guys think?

Chaisley seems a little too contrived for me...like you are reaching for a name...sorry...

What about Kaitley, Shannelle, Shannon, Cleo, or Kiley? Good luck!

i like your husbands choice more. I think Marissa or Lacey would be awesome names. ( Lacey is one of my favorite names.) Chaisley is also childish if you think Kylie is. Don’t let one thing you want interfere with a pretty name. Go for Kara, Marissa, or Lacey.

I just named my daughter Cara, and I love it. Kara is a darling choice. Kara Jessica would be a lovely compromise for you and your husband, IMO...Good luck!

Kara is a beautiful name. I also like Alexis, Marissa, and Jessica. Personally, I don’t care for Chaisley. How about Ainsley? A good list of new and unusual names can be found at:

In my opinion, it is important to consider how the name will look on a job resume, and how people unfamiliar with the name would pronounce it. Do you want your child to have to explain their name to everyone they meet?

You and your husband should both love the name you choose for your baby. With the billions of names in the world, I’m sure there is one you and your husband can agree on. Good luck!

Alexis (lexie for short), Cadence, Lacey, Jessica and Kasie
I think Kasie is ok, but not really different like your looking for..
Cadence is one of my Favorite names.
Chaisely (Chayz eh lee or Chase Lee?) either one I think is really cute.. I also think
Kaslie would be adorable.
"odd" uncommon or unusual names are my favorite but I like to pair them up with something more common so that as the child ages they can have a choice if they don’t care as much for the unique.
Chaisely Marissa
Chaisley Cadence
Chaisely Alexis
Then you and your hubby can both have your own nickname for your child.
He can call her lexie or whatever he chooses and you can call her Chaisley.

Cadence Chaisley
Alexis Chaisley
Marissa Chaisley are all cute too.. then you can call her by her middle name if you want too.

or if you went with Caisley or Kaisley the he could still call her Kasie for short.

Have you considered Paisley or Kinsley?

I just don’t know, I just bought a 500,000 name book and only came up with 10 names all of which he did not like. I have tried every site there is when it comes to unique names. There is just nothing out there that I am in love with. I have three or less weeks to go. Do they let you come home from the hospital without a name?

Yes, you can come home without a name, but then you’ll forget to fill out the paperwork and your kid will turn 16 and want to get a driver’s license and will find out that her legal name is still Baby Girl Lastname.
Marissa is a nice name. Also consider Marina. I wouldn’t use Chaisley -- when I hear names like that I just automatically think "Oh jeez, her mom is probably about 12."

Jessica and Marissa are both nice. I don’t care for any of the other names you mentioned. Especially Chaisley. That is so cheesy.

I just happened to google my name and found this poll. My name is Chaisley Love and although there is a long winded story of how the name came about, I have spent 30 years with that name. I am unsure of what you named your child but truth be told I don’t like my name. I have been called Tracey, Tracey-Lee, Chelsea even Chastity. It is a hard name to pronounce for some and then when they finally get it everyone wants to know the name meaning and how I got my name. I have gone by the name Chase since my teenage years and still get called Trace or Kate over the phone. I do home you went the Marissa or Alexis or something not so unique.
