Finding vs. That vs. Balance

Hey, we are having a hard time finding a balance between uncommon and totally out there for our baby! He or she will have a family name as a middle name, which will be a fairly complicated middle name. However, our last name is super common so we don’t want an overused first name but since he/she will already have a confusing middle name we don’t want something too over done. If that makes any sense? If that does make sense to you, please give suggestions for both sexes! Thank you & best wishes to those expecting or TTC!

Genie's Mailbag

Emma in Western Australia
We have a boy named Tyler James and a girl named Gypsie Jade. Expecting our 3rd, which is a boy. I'm in love with the name Olly, but my partner thinks Gypsie and Olly are unique names and Tyler is not, so it won't feel right. So he wants an ordinary name. Please help with something unique but ordinary.
Baby Name Genie:
In the space between unique and ordinary is a special category of names I think of as "antiques." They are familiar and well-used names that are not widely in use these days. For your son, I give you Oscar Jude - a perfectly ordinary, unique name.
