My cousin was born a hermaphrodite and they named her Alex Taylor. As a child they dressed her in normal children’s clothing and basically let her pick out what she wanted to wear. When she hit puberty she started identifying more with girls instead of guys and liked guys so she is a girl. Just treat her/him like a normal child give it cars and barbies. Children are all the same...boys and girls until middle school anyways and by then you should have an idea whether she’s a girl or boy.

Maybe give them a unisex name.

Choose something gender non-specific, like Rain or Sky. There’s a family in Toronto, Canada who made the news because they refused to reveal the sex of their baby calling it "Storm" and raising it gender neutral.

I think the first post, is brilliant, I had older brothers and while I had my girl toys I also had loads of boys toys to play with and same with clothes I had girly clothes but also clothes from my brothers, I think that a unisex name is brilliant even if one name is more feminine and the other more masculine, so they can choose as they get older and when they get to about 10 you should have a good idea what they are more interested in.

The actual term is intersex. I agree with those who have said to choose a unisex name.

I would also not allow any gender assignment surgery. Unless a procedure was needed for the child’s health (like to let them pass urine), I’d skip it until the child is old enough to decide what s/he want’s to do. No matter what their DNA says, sometimes the hormones have masculinized or femininized the child’s brain and you need to wait until they’re older to know which gender they identify with.
