I do automatically associate it with Dolly Parton and a farm/the south. I think it’s better as a pet or nickname than a formal name. I’m fairly sure that it’s a nickname for Dorothy. You could always name her something and just call her Dolly.

i kind of agree with the above about south/dolly parton. i think it is a cute name, but not realy suitable for an adult. i think it would be cute if you used it as a nickname for dahlia or some other name with dol in it.

I like the name Dolly...and I do think of Dolly Parton, but I am from Sevierville, Tennessee (I went to the same high school as Dolly, not the same year of course!) and I have met her many times. She is really an amazing lady that does a lot for the community. So, I don’t have any negative connotations with the name. I like Dolly Parton!
