I’m in the UK. And I like it. Some people might think it a bit too old fashioned, a bit too ’old lady’ but over time I can see that most of the people she knows will likely shorten it to Rose or Rosie, which has a more modern feel.

My daughter has a little girl in her class called Evelyn. They’re 5 years old. And when most people first heard it they thought it was ’out there’ and old fashioned, but now it’s just another name in a class of 30!

Also, it’s better than the likes of Mckenzie and names like that, which I see and hear everyday on the school run, and despair of how little imagination the parents have! So chavvy! I mean I can hear a person saying "let’s go to grandma Rosie’s" but I can’t imagine "let’s go to grandma Mackenzie’s" !! Can you?!

Rosemary is a fine, solid name with pretty nicknames. Well done!

What are your thoughts for a middle name?

I’m with you poster #1 I really don’t like the Mackenzie type names either.

I haven’t decided on a middle name yet but I like Katherine and Elizabeth but am open to suggestions.

Both would be very nice although Rosemary Elizabeth is my favourite.

Rosemary Hannah
Rosemary Emma
Rosemary Lillian
Rosemary Sylvene (sill-veen)
Rosemary Grace
Rosemary Kate
Rosemary Jean

Or perhaps a family name? A mum or grandmas name? Or a maiden name if you have one that’s usable? It used to be very popular in England for children to have their mums/grandmas maiden name somewhere in their name?

I do like Rosemary Hannah.

One of my grandmas was called Alice which I do like the other was Ethel and I don’t like that name at all.

Rosemary is very pretty! I believe it’s a classic.

Rosemary Elizabeth or Rosemary Alice would be perfect.
