Why is pregnancy deemed vs. so negative?

Why does everyone deem pregnancy as such a negative thing? Even the married couples who’ve been together for a very long time, seem to get the short end of the stick when they find out they’re pregnant. Everyone seems to shed such negative light on having a baby, like your life is about to end. Even the people that are happy for the pregnant people, have some sort of negativity toward it. "Wow, they’re a lot of work!" "Oh, my, ANOTHER little one?", Even when the couple only has one or two older kids. The list goes on and on. I know this is a naming site, but, it was just on my mind, and I knew of this site, and this place you seem to get questions answered pretty quick. Thank you!

I’m not one of those people. I think children are a blessing. I have 4, and will have a fifth! I know what you mean though, my own mother has given me a hard time with EVERY pregnancy. In the end, it’s your choice. As long as you can afford them and love them all.
Just ignore people. It’s that simple. If you’re happy, who the heck else matters?!

I understand not to worry about everyone else, poster one, I’m just baffled that the light on pregnancy is shed so dim, and instead of thinking that kids are a blessing, they’re considered a nuisance, a burden, etc. Obviously, kids cost money, they do throw fits, they do go out in the mud when told not to wearing their white lacy church dress...but that shouldn’t take away from the joy of having them, and making them feel special, no matter what craziness they pull. Of course they can pull stupid stuff!! Its a kid. that is what they do. Don’t people realize this?

Because life as you know pretty much IS over. And they ARE a lot of work. Not saying they’re not a blessing but seriously... many parents do a great job of making their own job sound terrible. Complaining about their kid misbehaving or puking on the car seat again. It’s like a competition to see who has sacrificed the most for the benefit of their family. What do you expect the reaction to be when a person like that announces they’re having another?

Yeah, poster three. That is what is sick. Everyone complains so much, they act like they’re the ones sacrificing. The kids are the ones having to sacrifice, listening to all the garbage. Those poor ears on those poor kids! The adults are the adults, they are the ones that are supposed to be loving and understanding, realizing, that IT IS A KID, and are supposed to realize that the kids don’t know better, until they are older. I say, about 4-5 with the misbehaving, even then, they still will do it anyway, and the puking, well, kinda can’t help that, no matter how old you are. I’ve gotten sick in the car, and I’m an adult.

With my first two I never got any negative comments but people are VERY vocal about whether or not we should have a third. We are hot and cold on the third baby but I think eventually we will have one. I just hope when that time comes people are genuinely happy for us when we announce our pregnancy. We’ll see....

I have no idea what you’re talking about. Everyone I know is thrilled when another baby is on the way. It must be your local subculture. Anyone negative about babies around here would be frowned upon.

Meh, who cares about them. People who don’t like kids are usually the ones complaining "immigrants are taking over!" Well yes, if you don’t have any kids you’ll be replaced by those who do.
