I very much prefer it for a boy. The story of the mythical creature seems quite masculine to me. I guess it’s not horrible for a girl, though.

Girl- The Phoe sound is feminine as is Nyx which is a Goddess of Night. Also The Phoenix is a female and powerful I might add comic character which is empowering for a girl. The name itself invokes great strength as it means to be reborn from ones ashes. I think it is a great namesake, I myself prefer it as a middle name for a girl. GL

I think it’s one of the truly unisex names. When I hear it I don’t think girl or boy. I just think it’s a person I’ll have to meet to find out what gender they are. Haha.
