Substitute vs. Names

Hi! My husband and I loved the name Emmeline "Emmy" for our second princess; however it’s a bit too close with her big sister’s name, Eleanor "Ellie". We don’t want to start a theme and we don’t want the names to be too close, do you have any names that are similar in style to Emmeline/Emmy but don’t start with E? Her middle name will be Andrée, after her grandmother. Thank you and happy holidays! ~Sarah

You could nickname her Emma instead of Emmy. Ellie and Emma sounds nice together. I also like Coraline, Madeline, or Jemima.

We like Josephine "Josie"! We like Rose but it sounds silly next to our last name. We don’t want a theme with letters so we won’t be using any E name (or nickname)

Thanks, but that doesn’t really help what we’re asking for. We need name suggestions since we know Emmeline "Emmy" isn’t an option for us and we hadn’t found any other names we love yet

Adeline is really the best alternative. Addie & Ellie are not too similar. Andree is my middle name & my grandmas middle name too! Beautiful.

Addie has an annoying sound to me, sorry! We aren’t a big fan of Adeline or the alliteration of Adeline AndrĂ©e, again sorry! The name doesn’t have to actually sound like Emmeline or have similar letters; but substitute we mean a new name we can use rather than a name that is just like Emmeline

We like a lot of your suggestions, Genevieve, Penelope, Helena, and Beatrice; but we can’t use any of them! While we like Genevieve, we only like Evie as a nickname which doesn’t work because of Ellie. Penelope "Penny" is adorable, but Ellie is a nickname for Penelope here which is would be weird because of Ellie’s name. Helena is beautiful but we’re not a fan of Nellie and Nellie is way too close to Ellie. And Beatrice "Bea" is cute, but Bea doesn’t work with our last name and we don’t like any other nicknames for it

We like the idea of Lucy and Rosie as nicknames; but we can’t use Louise and we haven’t found any full names for Rosie that we like (we did a quick google search). We also like Matilda but not Mattie or Tilly, sorry!
