Avery sounds like boy vs. Avery sounds like girl

My husband likes Avery for a girl. I think it sounds more like a boy name. And I work at a pediatrician office. Normally Avery is a boy. What do you think?

Avery seems girly to me but to avoid confusion you can spell it Averie which definitely makes it look feminine.

Avery is good for all genders.
It leans very heavily girl, however.

I agree with you that it is a classic boy name. People are using it for girls as they are Logan, Ryan and Eliot. I could go on. I tend to avoid unisex names or ones broaching that territory.

Avery is a name I have always loved for a boy. One of my favorite male actors is named Avery, too. So I guess I am pre-disposed to think of Avery as being male.

I know an Avery that’s a boy and an Avery that’s a girl

I agree with you, that it’s more of a boy name. However, in the past few years, I’ve met many baby girls named Avery. You could always use it as a middle name since you’re not in love with it.

Depends where you are from but where I’m from it would be all boy.

I don’t know, but I do know it’s a very ugly name that sounds like ovary.
