Advice vs. please
Hello, Molly here and I’m expecting my first baby! My boyfriend has said he wants to use Evan after his Dad who died when he wad younger, which I get and respect and so I’ve agreed on Evannie or Evanna for a girl. However, for a boy, I’m not sure because Evan was the name of my ex and it was a bad break up. What should I do? Is there some similiar name? Thanks

I’d use Evan as a mn.
Make it the middle name. Then you don’t have to use it or hear it too frequently and it still honors his dad.
Alternatively, there’s Ivan.

Get over your ex. You aren’t in touch anymore, and the memory will fade. Evan is wonderful.
I have Evanna and Evannie, though. They sound tacky and made-up. I like Evangeline so much better. It’s classy and honors Evan.

Evan is the Welsh version of John. So, you could always John instead of Evan.

Maybe you should tell your boyfriend about your ex, and hopefully he will understand. You can use Evan as a middle name if it’s a boy. I’m sure he would except it. If not, you could maybe spell Evan a different way, like Avan. For a girl, I love the name Evanna!
Thank you all.
I’ll talking to my boyfriend about using it as a middle, but I also really like John nicknamed Johnny, thanks
Evangeline is cute too- hadn’t thought of that

There’s always Evander, ee-VAN-der. It has Evan in it although it’s not pronounced the same.
