How do you vs. pronounce it?

The name is Lorelei. How do you pronounce it? Lore-eh-lee OR Lore-eh-lay? I think we’re starting to fall in love with the name, but we tend to like one pronunciation better and we keep getting conflicting opinions on which pronunciation is correct. ~Paige

It’s definitely only pronounced "lore-uh-lye," the last syllable rhyming with dye or fry. It doesn’t end in "lee" or "lay."

Lye?!?! Goodness, I’ve not heard that before! This is even more confusing now. :-(

I second lore-uh-lye, though I’ve heard lore-uh-lee before.

That’s the only way to pronounce it. Also depends on spelling.

What other ways could it be spelled? We had originally thought it was pronounced Lore-eh-lay, and then someone told us it was "lee" ... and now we’re getting "lye." Is there a proper spelling for Lore-eh-lay?

Alternate spellings: Lorelai, Loralei, Loralye

Just Google how to pronounce Lorelie. There’s probably an auto of it on YouTube. So you can listen to it.

Well Lorelai, Laurelei, Laurelai are different spellings for it that I’ve seen around. Not in person but baby name books

Lorelei definitely = Lor-uh-lie

If you want the "lay" ending, what about using just that --

Though I have to say, I do prefer the traditional spelling and pronunciation.
