Jameson Jame-i-son vs. Jameson James-son vs. Jameson Other pronunciation?

Hi everyone. My husband Stephen and I (Rebecca) are expecting our second child together, a baby boy, due March 13th 2014, and he needs a name. We both love the name Jameson, but we aren’t sure how to pronounce it correctly because we keep getting told different ways. We’ve been told Jame-i-son, James-son, Jame-uh-sin etc, and now were both really confused. Personally, I say it Jameson. What is the right way to say it? And please suggest middle names. We’re considering Jameson Robert, Jameson Michael, Jameson Maddox, Jameson Blake and Jameson Daniel but we aren’t sure about any of them. Big sister is Megan Aurora (will be 5 next month) and our last name is Evans. Thanks!

If the pronunciation is a big issue, I’d just stick to James. Everyone will know how to say it, plus it’d sound lovely with Megan :)

I’d say it JAIM-iss-on. But I’ve also heard JAMES-son, JAM-iss-on and JAY-mess-on.

That sound say "personally, I say Jame-son". Sorry, autocorrect. Thanks!

I was thinking that too, but I just really like Jameson more. We already have something with that name on it (it was a gift or we wouldn’t have done it yet). Jaim-iss-on sounds really good now that I’ve been saying it out loud. Thanks!

I say Jaim-iss-son. But the middle syllable is so subtle, I don’t really don’t see a huge difference. It’s a great name and a little more interesting than James. I wouldn’t over think it.

I have only ever heard "Jaym-iss-on," but it could be a regional accent/pronunciation difference.

Don’t worry about it too much. The changes in pronounciation are subtle and if you’re bothered, one simple correction and te others won’t forget. Happens to nearly every name, there’s no escaping accents and such.
Go with the name you love!
