Need vs. Help!
We need some help! I like really different (not necessarily unique but uncommon) names like Felix and Sebastian and my husband actually likes all the names I like (except a few). The issue is we don’t know if we should go down the path of more common names (we love Mason, Dominic, Jake, and Liam) or for more uncommon names (Felix, Sebastian, Riordan). My other issue is my dad just passed away and we want to include his middle name (Sean) but my husband also wants to have a child named after him! His name is Mathew. Is there like a different form of Mathew out there so we can still name him after my dad and my husband without having confusion whenever anyone calls the name Mat? The only alternatives I can think of are Mateo or Mathias and I don’t like those. Please help us!!

I know Matheus, Thijs/Ties/’Tyce’ and Máté, but I suppose those wouldn’t work so well in English. Does your husband have a middle name? You could try that, or same initial, same meaning...

His middle name is his fathers name and we don’t want to use that name.

I agree you the mn or the same initials it will still honour him, not be tacky and not cause confusion. Or use Mathew as the mn and Sean as a fn. Or use two mn.

You could always use two middle names! Say Sebastian Matthew Sean. Or Dominic Matthew Sean. Sounds great. The good thing about those two names together is that they flow very well so pretty much any first name you choose will sound nice.
