Jesse vs. Nickname vs. Full name

I love the name Jesse for a boy. (It helps my name is Jessica!) but now I am wondering, is it short for something else? Or is it a name all on its own? And what do you think of this name? I’m afraid some people will think it is too girly. Thoughts?

Jesse makes me think of a macho cowboy type. Like the outlaw Jesse James. It’s very handsome.

Jesse is a name on its own. It’s a lovely name for a boy! It might be a little confusing with your name being Jessica, though.
