Nickname vs. Names
Hi! We are looking for "nickname names", meaning names that are usually nicknames. So far we like Ellie, Evie, and Rosie but we’re not sold on them yet. What are your favorite nicknames for girls? We will not be using a full name for any name, so please just "nickname name" suggestions. Thank you! ~Sage and Mia
The Top Baby Name is...
Beth (sort of)
We like Elsie, Lucy, Liv (not loving Livia), and Emmy! Since my name is Mia, we probably shouldn’t use it
Lana is kind of growing on us, and we like Liv!
We like Gracie, Tilly, and Callie is growing on us!
Ella, Delia, and Elsa are nice but they don’t give us that nickname feel we are looking for
I love Ellie, Evie and Rosie!
We like Lulu, Immy/Immie, Indie, Elsie, Emmy/Emmie/Emmy, and Liv! Lily is nice but it’s super common where we live (there are at least 7 in our small neighborhood)
We like Nellie and Josie!
We don’t like boy names for girls, sorry!
Frankie isn’t a boys name. It is a nickname for Francesca, Frances etc. It is unisex
We don’t love the sounds of those, sorry!
Rosie is already on our list, but we also like Lola and Gracie!
Just realized we missed a comment referring to Frankie, sorry! Frankie is most commonly used for boys, we don’t like unisex names either. We aren’t looking for a debate or anything on whether or not a name is a boy name, unisex name, or girl name. We know what we like and that’s really the most important thing when we are naming our child.
We like Lola! We like the sounds of Thea and Gwen but we don’t get that nickname feel from them
Do you like any?
We like Molly but it doesn’t give us that nickname feel we are looking for
I’m partial to Evie (prn eh-vee) because that’s my daughter’s name! I also love Livvy and Tess.
We don’t want full names, as already stated in the post. We like Hattie!
We like Liv (but not so much Livvy)! Pronunciation is one of our issues with Evie, we like both Ee-vee and Eh-vee and both are common pronunciations in our area
What do you think?
Just a note: Liv would not make a good full first name. It’s too abrupt.
We like Josie! We like the sound of Ella and Brynn but they don’t give us that nickname feel that we want.
We aren’t concerned about a name sounding too abrupt, we like the short and almost "to the point" feel, that’s exactly what we want. We don’t want a more full name or anything, we want the shorter nickname feel as a full name

Even if you don't like the names. Thanks!
