Avalyn vs. Adilynne vs. to close to each other?
I’m going to try this post again I posted yesterday and only got votes, which wasn’t what I was looking for.
My husband and I love the name Avalyn (ah-vuh-lynn). It has special meaning to me. My husbands niece is named Adilynne (add-uh-lynn). Are Avalyn and Adilynne to close, or would we be OK to use Avalyn?
The Top Baby Name is...

Much too close.
Why not use Ava and have a middle name - perhaps Lindy - that you love.
An alternative would be Evalyn/Evelyn which is pretty.

My cousin is Evelyn, Ava is way to popular for our liking. Avalyn also means "beautiful bird" which is special to me. My grandmother just passed on Saturday and she adored birds. My grandmother only said one word on her death bed, that word happened to be my name. I drove an hr and a half just to hold her hand as she took her last breath. So its very special to me. Her name would be Avalyn Shyann(e). She would go by "aly"

I would say not too close/okay because 1) they are cousins not sisters; 2) it has a very special meaning for you; and 3) she’d use a nickname.

It doesnt matter. My brother is named Kim and our cousin is Jim... It has never ever caused any sorts of problems. Ever.

If she goes by Aly then don’t worry about it, its not that big of a deal anyway. My name is Michelle and my brother’s name is Michael which are basically the same names. Its never really been an issue. Use the name that you love and that holds meaning to you. Besides they’re not sisters like a previous poster has already said.

They are similar. But I don’t think that should deter you from using the name. They are just cousins and not sisters. I don’t think it really matters. If you love the name you should use it.

Thank you for the advice! We are definitely using the name Avalyn Shyann(e) if its a girl. We plan on using Sylas Emmett if its a boy :). We currently have 2 girls. Aryssa (uh-riss-uh) Danielle (4) and Sianna (see-on-uh) Paige (1). I can’t wait to find out the gender of this baby. He/she is our last child and we wanted a name that we love and fits with our daughters’.
