Middle - not keen on it as a first name as I can’t get plain Jane out of my mind.

It’s perfectly fine for either a first or middle name. I don’t understand some people in their questions regarding the acceptance of names like Rose, Grace, Jane and etc to be used as first names. They ARE first names. Jane is a beautiful classic name that will give her zero issues or problems down the road. It’s professional but still sweet.. Everything rolled in one. If you prefer it as a middle name that’s your choice but it’s great as either. It’s a good name overall. Fact: Jim Carrey has a daughter named Jane.

It works either way, of course. But I really love it as a first name. It’s simplicity somehow makes it seem all the more elegant to me. Sometimes less is really more.

Plain jane? Lol you need to grow up. If that’s stuck in your head I guess Mia is out too as there is M.I.A. How about Nora? Old phrase in England "Bloody Nora".... How about daisy? "Oops a daisy!!!"... I can go on and on. Your reasoning for disliking it is invalid. Not liking it is one thing but because of that? I don’t think so. Grow up.

Woah ! No need to get nasty.
I think the 2nd poster was explaining her reason which is, of course, a valid point whether you like it or not.

Oh dear, we all have reasons for liking or disliking names and reasons are not necessarily childish. Have to agree that the comment from poster 6 is very silly and not nice.

Saying for someone to "grow up" isn’t nasty... They didn’t explain, they simply expressed dislike due to the saying "plain jane". If they disliked it just because they disliked it, that is a valid reason! For a saying when the name is used is silly. I too have the right to voice my opinion. If I threw insults, then I would have been labelled nasty, but since the "worst" said was "grow up" I’m in my right with what I said. My opinion stands too. *smiles*

But the second poster didn’t even say they inherently disliked the name...Just that Jane on its own reminds them of "plain Jane." That’s a valid point. Some names I’m no longer keen on because of associations...They explained their opinion, and you can express yours without zeroing in on theirs...For the record, I like Jane as a first name...
