Francesca vs. nicknames vs. not Franny
I love the elegant Francesca, but I think it would inevitably be shortened to "Franny," which I hate. Can you think of any other nicknames for Francesca? Or do you think "just Francesca, not Franny" could realistcally be enforced?

I know two people named Francesca, one goes by Frankie, and the other goes by Fran. If you don’t like any of the nicknames, I think Francesca is beautiful, and doesn’t have to be shortened.

"Just Francesca" would certainly get through to me. Of course, I’m not one for nicknames, anyway. But I do not believe nicknames are inevitable. Example: I know two boys named Patrick. One boy is occasionally called Pat, the other is never called anything other than Patrick. The one who is sometimes called Pat by friends is also called Pat at times by his parents. The one whose friends never call him anything other than Patrick is ALWAYS called Patrick by his parents. I think the family sets the tone.

I know a Francesca who goes by Cissy. If you don’t want her to have a middle name just introduce her as Francesca though and people will follow your lead. It has worked for my friend Alexandra who always goes by her full name and never Alex, Lexi, Sandra etc.
