Dallas vs. Austin vs. Super cheesy or OK?

Hi y’all, My husband and I are both originally from Texas but have relocated to the Northeast for work and will likely stay. I just found out I’m pregnant with g/g twins and we want to honor our roots. We don’t like girly names, we both prefer a bit more interesting, unisex names. Are Dallas and Austin too much for our girls? Please be kind, we have a lot of pride for our home state. ;) -Kayla & Todd

Dallas is cute on a girl, Austin not so much. I met a girl this past weekend actually named Houston which I thought was neat.

So tacky. And I would say that about any two place names for twins.

There is a city in Texas named Taylor. You could do Dallas and Taylor you would know the connection to Texas without it being so obvious.

I think it’s cute, but being from Texas, I’m a little biased. I think Addison (Dallas County) and Cameron (Milam County) would be adorable! But, I find nothing wrong with Dallas and Austin.
Good luck to y’all!

Awful. Masculine, tacky and way beyond cheesy.

Dallas is ok for a girl, but Austin... I’d never thought that’s a girl.
Think about it, think how it will be for your daughter in the school.

I love the guest post Dallas and Taylor. Also like Addison with either name. I just don’t like Austin for a girl. Good Luck!

I absolutely love the name Austin for a girl and I don’t think Dallas is terrible on a girl, as it’s so similar to the name Alice. However, I think paired together it does come off as really, really cheesy. Those are really well known cities within that state and the country. If you’re going to use cities in Texas, I would use less known cities that maybe only people would Texas would make the association. Or use one Texas city and then find another Texas association (that’s not a city) and use that.
