Sarah Jane vs. Too boring vs. Not too boring

Sarah Jane is one of my favorite combos, but a lot of people think it’s too bland. I also think it’s a nice "double name" if Sarah by itself ends up feeling too plain or she wants to distinguish herself from another Sarah. What do you think? Thanks!

I love it! I named my daughter who was born about a month ago Sara Jane, and she goes by both names!

I have a friend called Sarah Jane and everyone calls her SJ. I think once you get to schoolage people pretty much shorten any double barrelled names so you have to consider what it will be shortened to.

Soooooo sweet. This name is absolutely beautiful. If you want to "spunk it up", I suppose you could try Clara Jane or Mira Jane, but Sarah Jane is absolutely gorgeous.

Sarah Jane isn’t cute. It’s horrifically boring. Sorry :(

I have a double name, and no one has ever shortened it, so I have to disagree with the second commenter, I don’t think it will be shortened unless you or her want it to be.

I think Sarah Jane is such a sweet name. I have a little sister named Sarah Anna and it fits her perfectly. I think Sarah Jane is lovely. I say try and not let the name you love be determined by the negativity people say, unless the name is horribly offensive which Sarah Jane isn’t. Sarah Jane is beautiful.

I find it pretty boring. Sarah paired with another more unique middle name might work though!

Not a fan of double barrelled names...
If she plays sport it will definitely get shortened to SJ or just Sarah cause ’Sarah Jane’ is too much of a mouthful when you need to say it quickly!
Make it a middle name.

If you want something more unique, you could try Seraphine Jane and call her Sera Jane for short, but there’s nothing wrong with Sarah Jane. It’s elegant and beautiful, I don’t really see why anyone would want to change it!

It’s nice, I love it. It’s not too boring at all since a lot of children are being named weird stuff. This is refreshing! She can stand apart from other Sarah’s by being herself. Her name won’t stand her apart.... She will. It’s a beautiful name. I don’t recommend hypenating any names as generally they are pointless and not as pretty. Sarah Jane is great. Not boring... It’s a real name. Names these days are getting out of hand so be proud of Sarah Jane. Great choice

To all the people on here saying that if someone has a double name, it will be shortened, trust me, it more than likely will not. I have a double name, and I play sports, and no one shortens my name, one person tried to when they first met me, but when I told them I go by both names(they are my grandmas names) they respected that and called me both names. I think that she will go by Sarah Jane if that’s what she wants to be called.

My cousins name is Sarah Jane and FWIW she hates it. So I can’t really say I like it, sorry. I really love the name Jane though.

Who cares your cousin hates it, that’s her! Doesn’t mean OP’s daughter will. All the kids these days are getting ridiculous names like the poll poster who is naming her daughter Lexi and wanting it to be hyphenated like Lexi-Mae or Lexi Rose. This is putrid... Sarah Jane is a name her daughter will be proud of in today’s society. Back then? Maybe not... But today? Yes!

Who cares if you think Lexi-Mae or Lexi-Rose is stupid ^^ dish it out, ya get it back! And how the [removed] do you know OP’s daughter will be proud of this name??? For all you know she may well hate it so shut the [removed] up dick!

I find Sarah Jane to be a little too southern for my taste. I mean, Sarah is pretty but it’s so common and to pair it with another plain name like Jane, I don’t see the appeal.
