Should I try to vs. talk her out of it?

Hi, my best friend has a 2 year old son named Aiden. She is 5 months pregnant with another little boy and she is set on naming him Caden. I personally think it’s ridiculous and a little immature. But should I try to talk her out of it? Or just leave it alone? What would you do?

Explain to her in a nice and convincing way that Aiden and Caden are two similar, and rhyming names never work out. Caden is okay, but Aiden is something I don’t like because of popularity. Maybe she didn’t know that they rhyme, and thought they compliment each other because Aiden is modern, and Caden is a classic. I personally don’t think she should go with that name because of the rhyming. It’s also a different circumstance when the names start with the same letter, because they rarely rhyme. But it’s ultimately her choice on what she wants to name her baby.

I would try and honestly convince her, not just be like: "That’s not a good idea" but go into it gently and explain that they rhyme and Caden is basically Aiden with a C. Perhaps have a few other names to suggest.

Caine
Camden
Carter
Carson
Cash
Callum
Collin
Cory

Aiden and Zachary
Aiden and Owen
Aiden and Rory
Aiden and Garrett
Aiden and Miles
Aiden and Reese
Aiden and Finley
Aiden and Alexander
Aiden and Nolan

Poor boys!
Aiden and Caden is really bad, no offence intended. I would be honest, but not rude, and tell her. Maybe Aiden and Cade instead?

I would talk her out of it. She may be so caught up in liking the name Caden that she doesn’t realize that it will prevoke school yard teasing. They are nice names seperate but together, they don’t sound very good. I’d suggest to her other names, but don’t be upset if she decides to name her baby Caden anyway...it’s not your child so techinically its not your problem. But try convincing your friend to change it something different. Good luck!!

how about since you’re not pregant you leave her alone and let her name her child what she wants.. alot of people like their children’s names to match its not uncommon.. its the same as someone naming their child Hayden and Brayden so get your own life and stay out of hers

Leave it alone. It’s her child.

If this were a poll with a mother saying she liked Caden but already stated she had a son named Aiden, people would be all over her saying that they’re too close. This is no different except it’s her friend and not strangers.

I think its a bad idea and good on you for wanting to say something...thats a true friend!! You could sit back and leave her to it and laugh along with the many others that will laugh at 2 bros with rhyming names. I would say something and then leave it at that. I do like the suggestion of Aidan and Cade though ..so maybe sugest that!!

you should try to talk her out of it.
those names are cute, but too close together,
tell her to change it, theres other names out there that sound great, if she don’t listen, don’t worry about it, let it be. it her choice, but when she get bby caden and she gets them confused, you will know that you was right and she was wrong(: but, its her child(:
