What’s vs. Your vs. Opinion

Ok, so I know this might sound silly but i’m genuinely interested in your opinions on this, I have no kids yet but I have always said if I had a girl her name would be Isabelle, my best friend has just had a baby girl and named her Isabelle. Now i’m not tantruming or hating her or anything ridiculous but I am interested to hear your opinions on whether it is ok to still use Isabelle or should I find another name now? Thanks! ~ Caitie

Even though the name is pretty, it wouldn’t be fiar to your freind if you also named your daughter Isabelle. Find a name that has the same feeling as Isabelle.
Ex. Ella or Stella? Penelope? Sophie? Ava? Lucy? Lydia?

I like the name Isabelle, but I wouldn’t use it if your friend already had a daughter named Isabelle. But if you really want to name her that, you ask your friend if it’s okay, and if she says yes, name her that and cause confusion for your daughters. Either that or just stop being friends with her, but I don’t think you’d want that. So it’s best to find a new name.

I would still use my favorite name if my best friend "stole" it, IF she knew before that I wanted that name. If she didn’t know because I hadn’t ever told her I would use something else.

Could always pick another name and use Isabelle for a middle name.

Hmm, well if you’re set on it you may as well - its a super popular name right now, so it’s not as though she could seriously accuse you of "stealing" it

You’ll probably still end up with a couple of people making comments though

if she’s still your best friend and your girls are going to grow up together, it would probably be best if they had different names. plus it’s a really overused name, you could always use it as a middle name.

Stacey Isabelle
Renee Isabelle
Rae Isabelle
Clarissa Isabelle

It’s just sooo heartbreaking when that happens. It’s happened to me too (well kind of! - my alltime favourite name is the name of my dh’s neice, so have been struggling with wether or not it would be acceptable for me to use it and then there be 2 girls in one family with the same fn and surname! :/ ) Did your friend know you planned to use Isabelle? I really do like Isabelle, but as people have pointed out already it’s been done to death over the past few years, as has Isabella which I love too. Annabell/Annabella are lovely too, as is Anastasia and Anneliese. BUT if Isabelle is your dream name then I say go for it!

My friend knew, I have told everyone close to me that name would be my girls name. I’ve loved it since I was about 10. Not sure how it’d be "unfair" to her since she knew how much I loved it. Not saying she couldnt use it im cool with that but I dont see why it should be a big issue to use it. I mightve used a different namr if I was pregnant now but our babies will be years apart and look completely different. Thats IF I have girls anyeay. It’s hard, I don’t want people thinking I stole oy but I have loved it so long I think itd be unfait to me to miss out on the name I love too. I don’t know. So confused. Atleast I have a few years to think on it. ~ Caitie

If you want to use it, use it. You might want to look for some other names, maybe find some you love more than Isabelle and use Isabelle as a middle name, but if you really feel like Isabelle is the name, use it.

YES! it’s perfectly fine with still using that name. If you like it, don’t worry about if your friend has also used the name.
